Do you have brittle nails?

Ā

If your nails are often breaking, splitting or are thin and dull, it’s a sign that they need extra care – both from the outside and from the inside. šŸ’…

Ā

🧬 Why are your nails brittle?

The most common causes:

• Nutrient deficiency (biotin, iron, zinc, vitamins A, B, C, D)

• Frequent use of acetone or gel polish without a break

• Excessive hand washing without hydration

• External influences (cold weather, cleaning without gloves)

• Stress or hormonal changes

• Dehydration (not drinking enough water)

🧓 Brittle nail care – tips and tricks

1. Oil, oil, oil!

• Use cuticle oil every day – almond, jojoba or coconut oil are top choices.

• You can warm it up slightly and massage it into your nails before bed.

Ā

2. Use nail hardeners

• Look for hardeners with biotin, keratin or calcium.

• Some also contain fibers that mechanically strengthen the nails.

Ā

3. Protect your hands when cleaning

• Always wear rubber gloves when washing dishes or cleaning with aggressive products.

Ā

4. Regular filing instead of clipping

• The file should be glass or ceramic, and always file in one direction.

• This will prevent microcracks.

Ā

5. Don’t overdo it with varnish

• Leave your nails “bare” for at least 1 week a month to let them breathe.

• Use a gentle acetone-free remover.

🄦 Diet for stronger nails

Add to your menu:

• 🄚 Eggs – rich in biotin

• 🄬 Green leafy vegetables – for iron and folic acid

• 🐟 Salmon, sardines – omega 3 for flexibility

• 🄜 Nuts, seeds – zinc and vitamin E

• šŸ„› Yogurt, milk – calcium and protein

Ā

šŸ‘‰ Consider nutritional supplements:

• Biotin (vitamin B7): 2.5–5 mg/day for nails and hair

• Collagen: helps with growth and strength
