Brittle nails

Brittle nails are a real nuisance! 😣

Ā

They often go hand in hand with brittleness, but with brittle nails, the focus is mainly on the fact that the nails crack, break at the tips or separate in layers (like “leafing”).

Ā

šŸ“‰ Main causes of brittle nails

• Excessive dryness – either due to weather conditions or excessive washing without hydration.

• Frequent chemical influences – acetone, cleaners, detergents.

• Mechanical damage – too much filing, biting, blows.

• Lack of nutrients – especially biotin, iron, protein.

• Improper nail care – incorrect shape, cutting instead of filing.

• Age and hormones – over the years, nails become drier and more brittle.

āœ… Solutions for BRIEF NAILS

🌿 Moisturizing = foundation

• Oil your nails and cuticles every day – ideally jojoba, castor or almond oil.

• Make an olive bath once or twice a week: warm the oil and soak your nails in it for 10–15 minutes.

🧓 A good nail hardener

• Choose a product without formaldehyde.

• It should contain keratin, biotin, calcium or proteins.

• Alternative: natural formulas with bamboo or silicon.

🧤 Gloves for everything!

• Even when you’re just washing a glass quickly – always wear gloves!

• Wear gloves outside in winter to prevent your nails from drying out.

šŸ”Ŗ Proper filing

• Use a glass file, never a metal one.

• Always file in one direction (never back and forth).

• The shape should be rounded-square or oval – sharp shapes break more easily.

Ā

šŸ³ Internal care – diet for strong nails

Include in your diet:

• Protein – without them, there are no building blocks for nails!

• Biotin – nuts, eggs, avocado

• Zinc – pumpkin seeds, lentils

• Iron – spinach, red meat, legumes

• Vitamin C – helps with iron absorption

šŸ’Š If the condition does not improve, you can consider supplements with biotin (5 mg) or collagen.

Ā

šŸ’” Additional tricks:

• Leave your nails shorter – less pressure and less chance of breakage.

• At least once a month, make a night mask with oil + cotton gloves.

• Always apply a cream with glycerin after washing your hands.
