Face shape is one of the key factors when choosing a hairstyle, as the right hairstyle can emphasize your features, optically balance your face and hide any asymmetries.

🔹 Most common face shapes and suitable hairstyles

Oval face (balanced proportions, slightly wider cheekbones than forehead and chin)

👉 The most “ideal” shape – almost all hairstyles suit it.

• Long and short hair, straight or curly.

• Bob, lob, page haircut.

• For men: classic fade, quiff, slick back.

Round face (face width almost equal to length, soft features)

👉 Goal: to lengthen the face and create the illusion of height.

• Longer page, layering, side bangs.

• Volume on top of the head, not on the sides.

• For men: undercut, pompadour, hairstyles with texture on top.

Square face (strong jaw, wide forehead)

👉 Goal: soften the features.

• Wavy or curly hair, layering around the face.

• Side bangs or soft strands along the jaw.

• For men: slightly longer hair on the sides, textured crop.

Heart-shaped face (wide forehead, narrow chin)

👉 Goal: balance the width of the forehead and emphasize the chin.

• Curtain bangs, chin-length bangs.

• Waves or curls under the cheekbones.

• For men: hairstyles with volume on the sides, textured fringe.

Oblong (rectangular) face (face longer than wide, even width of forehead, cheekbones and chin)

👉 Goal: shorten the optical length of the face.

• Shoulder-length hair, thick bangs, waves.

• Volume on the sides, not on top.

• For men: medium length hair, side partings, avoid overly high hairstyles.

Diamond shape (narrow forehead and chin, wide cheekbones)

👉 Goal: soften cheekbones and accentuate forehead or chin.

• For women: chin-length bob, bangs, layering at forehead.

• For men: longer hair on top, side partings, avoid overly short sides.
