Foods that help with diarrhea

1 min reading time

If you have constipation or want to stimulate digestion, the following foods may help.

 Fiber-rich foods

Fiber helps increase the volume of stool and makes it easier to pass:

  • Fruits: prunes, figs, pears, apples, kiwi
  • Vegetables: broccoli, spinach, carrots, cauliflower
  • Legumes: lentils, chickpeas, beans
  • Whole grains: oatmeal, brown rice, whole grain bread

 Foods with natural laxative effects

  • Prunes – contain sorbitol, which softens stool
  • Flax seeds – rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids
  • Chia seeds – help retain water in the intestines
  • Aloe vera – has a mild laxative effect

Fluids

Constipation is often the result of dehydration, so drink:

  • Water (at least 2 liters per day)
  • Warm tea (chamomile, mint, ginger)
  • Juice from dried plums or pears

Probiotic foods

Probiotics promote healthy gut flora:

  • Yogurt with live cultures
  • Sauerkraut
  • Kefir

It is also important to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If digestive problems persist for a long time, consult a doctor.
