🏖️☀️ In the summer and at the seaside, your nails need special care – heat, salt water, sun, sand and chlorine can dry them out, soften and damage them. So let’s see how you can protect them and make them happy so they will be healthy and beautiful all summer long! 🌴💅

 

☀️ NAIL CARE IN SUMMER & AT THE SEA

 

1. MOISTURIZE – every day, without exception!

• Sun + salt water = dry and brittle nails

• Every evening, apply:

Nail oil (jojoba, almond, argan)

Hand cream with glycerin or aloe vera

 

2. UV PROTECTION ALSO FOR NAILS

• Nails can become discolored or softened due to UV rays.

• Wear a nail polish with a UV filter or a clear top coat with protection.

• If you are in the sun, lightly apply a cream with UV protection also to your fingers/nail bed.

 

3. NAIL POLISH AND GELS AT THE SEA – YES OR NO?

• Regular polish can crack quickly, gel lasts better.

• If you use gel: make sure to oil your cuticles regularly, because UV + salt water + gel = DRYING.

• If you are without polish: nourish with oil daily and occasionally apply a hardener.

 

4. Gloves? At the sea?

• Yes, if you are working in the garden, cleaning shells or cleaning with products – always protect your nails.

• Sand can also “abrasive” them, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it can weaken the tips.

 

 

🌊 SALT WATER – FRIEND OR ENEMY?

 

Positive:

• Natural exfoliant for cuticles

• Mild antibacterial effect (helps if you have injuries or inflamed corners)

 

Negative:

• Strongly dries out nails and skin

• Causes splitting and breakage if you don’t moisturize afterwards

• Combination of salt water and sun = bleached, brittle nails

 

🧴 Solution:

• After swimming: wash hands with plain water + apply oil or cream

• 1x weekly olive bath for restoration

 

🏝️ SUMMER NAIL CARE ROUTINE (quick & effective)

MORNING:

1. Moisturizing hand cream with UV protection

2. Transparent top coat with UV filter (if you don’t have nail polish)

During the day:

• After bathing/washing: a little oil

 

EVENING:

1. Nail oil + light massage

2. If necessary: ​​night moisturizing mask or cream with shea butter
