Hair aging is a natural process that manifests itself not only in graying, but also in thinning, loss of shine and increased dryness.

Diet for “strong roots”

Hair is made up of the protein keratin, so it needs building blocks from within.

• Omega-3 fatty acids: Walnuts, salmon and flaxseed help with shine and moisturizing the scalp.

Proper scalp care

The scalp is the “soil” from which hair grows. As you age, oil production decreases.

• Scalp massage: Regular massage (5 minutes a day) stimulates blood circulation and delivers nutrients to the follicles.

• Gentle cleansing: Use shampoos without aggressive sulfates, which dry out your hair too much.

• Scalp exfoliation: Remove dead cells and product residue once a month to allow your scalp to “breathe”.

 

Protection from external influences

• UV protection: The sun damages keratin and fades hair color. Wear a hat in the summer or use sprays with UV protection.

• Limit heat: Blow dryers, curling irons, and flat irons accelerate the aging of hair fibers. If you use them, always apply heat protection.

• Less chemicals: Frequent coloring and bleaching damage the hair structure. Consider more natural techniques (e.g. balayage), which require less frequent touch-ups at the roots.

 

Stress and sleep management

High levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) can cause premature hair loss and graying.

• Sleeping on silk: A silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction, which prevents hair breakage.

• Relaxation: Yoga, meditation, or just quality rest help maintain hormonal balance.
